How to Use the Video Player & Library

This tool gives you a personal, private space to collect and organize video links from YouTube, Vimeo, and Dailymotion (or any direct .mp4 link) without creating an account or installing software. Paste a video URL, drop it into a folder, add notes, and come back to it later exactly where you left off.

Everything you build here, your folders, notes, playlists, and saved videos, is stored only in your browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded to a server, which means your library is fast, private, and yours alone. It also means you should export a backup occasionally, since clearing your browser data will erase your saved library.

Original Insight: Most people lose track of videos they meant to watch because bookmarks get buried and "Watch Later" lists on streaming platforms are scattered across different services. A single nested folder structure, organized by topic rather than by source platform, makes it far easier to find a video again weeks later. Try grouping by what the video is for ("Guitar Lessons," "Recipes to Try," "Work Tutorials") instead of where it came from.

Organizing Your Videos with Folders

Folders can be nested inside other folders, so you can build a structure that matches how you actually think about your videos. For example, a "Learning" folder could contain "Spanish," "Coding," and "Music Theory" subfolders. Each folder can also have its own notes, which is useful for recording why you created it or what you plan to do with the videos inside it.

Notes and Resume Playback

Every saved video has its own notes field, ideal for jotting down a timestamp you want to return to, a key takeaway, or a reminder of why you saved it. The player also tracks your playback position automatically, so when you reopen a video it picks up close to where you stopped, saving you from scrubbing through the timeline again.

Building and Playing Playlists

Selecting a folder and pressing play on any video inside it starts a playlist using every video in that folder. Use the Next, Previous, and Shuffle controls to move through the queue. This is a convenient way to line up a sequence of tutorials or a set of videos on the same topic and let them play one after another.

Glossary

Embed URL A special version of a video link that allows the video to be played inside another webpage, used here to display YouTube, Vimeo, and Dailymotion videos in the player.
Local Storage A storage area built into your web browser that saves data, like your video library, directly on your device instead of on a remote server.
Nested Folder A folder placed inside another folder, allowing you to build multi-level categories such as Learning > Coding > JavaScript.
Resume Playback A feature that remembers the timestamp where you stopped watching a video and starts playback from that point the next time you open it.
Playlist An ordered list of videos that play one after another automatically, here generated from all the videos saved inside a folder.
Shuffle Mode A playback option that plays the videos in a playlist in random order instead of the order they were added.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my video library saved anywhere online?+

No. Your folders, videos, notes, and playback progress are saved only in your browser's local storage on this device. They are never sent to or stored on any server.

Which video platforms are supported?+

You can save videos from YouTube, Vimeo, and Dailymotion by pasting their normal share or watch URL. Direct links to .mp4 video files are also supported and will play using the browser's built-in video player.

What happens if I clear my browser data?+

Clearing your browser's site data, cache, or local storage will permanently delete your saved library on this device. Use the Export button regularly to download a backup file you can re-import later or on another device.

Can I move a video between folders?+

Yes. Open the "Assign to Folders" option for any video to check or uncheck the folders it belongs to, or drag a video card directly onto a folder in the sidebar.

Why won't a video load in the player?+

Some videos are restricted by their owner from being played on other websites (embedding disabled). If a video does not load, try opening it directly on the original platform, or check that the URL was copied correctly.

Disclaimer: This video library tool stores links and metadata locally in your browser; it does not host, copy, or stream video files itself, and playback depends entirely on the availability and embedding permissions of the original source (YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, or a direct file link). Export your library periodically to avoid losing data if your browser storage is cleared.
